John and Liz

Our group formed at the end of the Summer 2009 and didn't really get going until September. There are 17 of us: six married couples and five singles and we range in age from 40 something to 80 a lot!

We see ourselves as coordinators more than leaders and we spend the first two weeks of each “term” arranging a programme by asking what people would like to do, then getting people to do it! Although we no longer have anyone in the group working in education, we still use the Spring, Summer and Autumn terms as convenient blocks of time.

We intend starting each term by breaking bread together – we were greatly blessed when Chris Bull gave us a goblet and plate with which to celebrate breaking bread when we left John Arnold's group.

This term we have planned listening to a talk on CD, watching a DVD and having a couple of Bible studies – on one the fruit of the Spirit and the other on Creation. We are asking each person in the group, over a period of time, to present their secular and Christian life story as a thumb nail – at one a term this will take more than five years!

We have also invited a visiting speaker to present a talk and we have created Prayer Triplets who will meet in separate homes one on Thursday evening – we didn't think that anyone's house was big enough for five triplets to meet in different rooms!

We seemed to have gelled as a group and everyone has plenty of ideas – and the willingness to participate in order to share the load.
